I think that if you love yourself enough, you can love unconditionally and can be content with that. I know that the world out there is promoting the romantic type of love, and I think that there is nothing wrong with that, but with my music, I want to approach love in a different way.

Nomfusi: What I always want with my music is to fuse two beautiful genres, or even, say, two worlds. I want to fuse the Motown world and Sophiatown music, and I want to try and make it modern. Sophiatown is the place where my musical inspiration comes from. Even in the times of Apartheid, it was a place where people met and played music together.

I think when soul music talks about a very serious topic, it manages to separate out the harshness of the topic and to put a positive sound in it.
